Alice Cooper is hung!
07.12.08 - Sunday night, the old-time shock rocker,
Alice Cooper put on a show that will haunt the hallways of the Orpheum Theater. Well, at least until Amy Grant can exorcise the joint. He had the audience on
his side at the beginning with a couple of familiar tunes like “I’m Eighteen” and “No More Mister Nice Guy”. Then the plot thickened…the 60-year-old master
of the dark gave a female actor a good beat-down and pounded a stake in a baby’s heart. As he paraded around the stage waving the bleeding baby (doll) in the
air singing “Dead Babies” the crowd became a little slack-jawed. The usually conservative Sioux City crowd were revived however as Alice was hung from the gallows
for his actions and came back from the dead to perform a couple more hits from his past.
The small, but mighty Orpheum crowd stood from the first tune, lapping up the high-dollar booze like it was from the fountain of youth. Fans ranged from painted up teens to grey-haired
ladies wandering around like lost sheep. Even though he’s progressed from killing animals in the 70’s to women and children today, this guy still puts on an entertaining show.
Cooper even tread into presidential backwaters with Obama and McCain look-a-likes bitch-slapping each other, only to have a Bush impersonator jump in to break things up. Alice closed
with “Elected”, stating the obvious, “why not elect me?” Good point. He honestly admitted “I don’t care about your problems.” Why don’t the candidates we have to choose from admit this as well?
