Music Can Make a Difference

11.22.08 -Music can warm the soul, move the spirit and spread the love. Saturday, December 20th, six local bands are joining forces to share the power of music. Emily Johnson, a local artist, well known for her powerful vocal performances is organizing a benefit to help her step-father Ron DeJong and his family. Ron has been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer. The event will begin at 7:00 pm at the Chesterfield, 1225 Fourth Street in Sioux City’s historic district.

Stealing Mercury, Kelly Quinn Band, Small Change, Jack Biggins Quartet, Sabre Roze and Travis Barnes are donating their time to help the cause. This is a great opportunity to hear some of the top bands in the area and raise money for a good cause in one rocking night. There will be a silent auction with items donated from local businesses.

The strength of Siouxland is its people. Come out, have a few drinks, shake your butt on the dance floor and help Emily and the other musicians make a tough situation a little better for one of our own.

Since I first saw them in 1978, their voices have aged like a piece of oak…sometimes a little rough, but full of natural beauty. [read more]

A Star is Born at Riverssance!

Live Music is in Good Hands
