Night Ranger front man shot!
06.28.08 - During their performance at Awesome Biker Nights, in Sioux City, Iowa, Night Ranger front man Jack Blades was shot… with a quarter. Apparently some adoring fan, or maybe someone who wanted more Pat Travers, rifled a quarter towards the stage and hit Blades square in the chest! Needless to say, he took offense to this action, and had some choice words for the large, uh, “awesome” biker crowd. When you’re living on tunes that were big over 20 years ago, there is bound to be a mixed reaction to your stage performance.
So once again, Sioux City gets a black eye during a live music performance. Unfortunately, it’s not the first time. Many music lovers from Sioux City will remember the Santana incident at the old Sioux City Auditorium or the Warren Zevon sound debacle at the Pavilion. A crowd of hungry Zevon fans stood slack-jawed as Warren jumped in a white Cadillac and raced away, spewing expletives out of sight. So, in his defense, at least Blades and Night Ranger finished the show, even treating fans to their trademark “Sister Christian”.
